Zach Rose
Zach Rose is a Y Kid through and through. It started “way back” when he was 6 years old and first attended YMCA Day Camp. It was an experience that changed his life. Zach was a shy kid back then but quickly made many new friends and developed great confidence in himself. He has since gone on to take part in many Y programs and has emerged at the age of 13 as a young leader.
Zach is the Son of Bruce and Tina Rose of Escanaba who are thankful for his ability to grow as a young leader through increasing levels of participation “I became a Day Camp helper when I was 9. I thought maybe someday I could become a counselor.” Now (summer 2013) he says “I’m going to become a Jr. Counselor.” Zach also took part in other Y programs like Football and Basketball and the trend toward taking a leadership role has continued. He’s been a leader and helper in Little Dunkers Basketball and is a score keeper for the Youth Basketball program under the guidance of Youth Coordinator, Steve Carpenter.
Zach wants to be a good person, athlete and student. A personal goal he has is to become a football or basketball coach. He says he would also like to be tall!
If someone were thinking of joining the YMCA Zach would tell them to “Do it!” adding, “You can make new friends, play ball, swim, use the fitness room and listen to ZUMBA while you play in the gym.”
