IRON MOUNTAIN – M. J. Electric, LLC (MJE), a nationally recognized prime electrical contractor in the electric transmission, substation, distribution, renewable energy, power, industrial, instrumentation, and civil/foundation construction industries serving customers nationwide for nearly 60 years has committed $150,000 to the Northern Lights YMCA Dickinson Center Capital Campaign.
“The YMCA is a tremendous asset to our community,” MJE President Ed Farrington said. “In accordance with its mission, the YMCA is making positive changes each and every day. We share their vision and are happy to offer our support to what I’m confident will be a terrific future for the YMCA in Dickinson County.”
The YMCA, hoping to rebuild its aging pool and renovate the Crystal Lake Community Center, raised nearly $1.8 million of a roughly $2.4 million goal during a quiet campaign that spanned two years. At the end of January, the Y launched its public campaign in an effort to collect the final $650,000 of the estimated project costs.
More than $200,000 poured in during the campaign’s first month, and with the addition of the MJE pledge, the campaign is now more than halfway to its $650,000 goal.
“MJ Electric’s gift to our Capital Campaign pushes us that much closer to our goal,” Dickinson Center Director Jonathan Ringel said. “We are so grateful to M.J. for this support. They have been big supporters and believers in what we are doing, and this contribution is very much appreciated.”
The Capital Campaign runs through June. The remodel of the Community Center would begin possibly as early as the fall, with the pool rebuild slated for the summer of 2019.
