Six NLYMCA Dickinson Swimmers Headed to State Final

Northern Lights YMCA Dickinson Center swimmers Caleb Plumley, Kolbe Raiche, Ellison Powell, Adelaide McRoberts, Finn Conley and Kaley Matuszewski have all qualified for the 2018 Wisconsin/Upper Peninsula State Swim Meet set for this weekend near Milwaukee, Wis.

“It’s been a super positive and productive season for all our swimmers,” NLYMCA Aquatics Director John Leech said. “I’m so very proud to see our team send six swimmers to state. Our program’s success continues to build, and I feel good about all these swimmers chances for wins this weekend.”

Raiche and Conley are competing at state meet for the first time. Raiche will swim in the 13-14 year old boys 200-meter backstroke, while Conley will swim the 25 and 50 butterfly, 25 and 50 backstroke, and the 50 breaststroke in the 8 and under division.

Matuszewski, McRoberts and Powell are returners to state competition. McRoberts card includes the 50 and 100 butterfly and breaststroke events, as well as the 100 individual medley. She went five-for-five at last year’s state meet, winning each event.

Matuszewski has qualified in the 25 and 50 breaststroke, the 25 and 50 backstroke and the 50 freestyle. Powell will swim the 100 and 200 freestyle and also the 50 and 100 butterfly.
Plumley is going to swim the 200 and 400 medley relay with NLYMCA Delta swimmers Andrew Dykema, Matthew LeClaire and Isaac Berthaume for the boys 400 and 200 medley relay. In all, the

Delta YMCA has 12 state swimmers.

The state swim meet begins Friday and concludes Sunday at Walter P. Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer, Wis.
