YMCA’s Day of Giving is March 1

IRON MOUNTAIN – In celebration of the YMCA’s national Day of Giving on Tuesday, March 1, Northern Lights YMCA is asking area residents to consider a donation to the 2022 Annual Campaign.
YMCA Day of Giving is an annual one-day event that provides an opportunity to give to your local YMCA. The Y is one of the nation’s leading nonprofits dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
“YMCA Day of Giving is an opportunity to engage our community to help support our local YMCAs through donations to our Annual Campaign,” Northern Lights YMCA Executive Director Jonathan Ringel said. “We are excited to take part in this national initiative in an effort to meet and exceed our association’s 2022 Annual Campaign goal.”
Funds raised through the Annual Campaign provide direct financial assistance for membership and programs, ensuring that no one is turned away due to inability to pay. Annual Campaign funds also help subsidize YMCA programming. Annual Campaign funds are raised through staff gifts, board gifts, community partners gifts and special events. All donations to the Annual Campaign remain local and benefit the YMCA for which the donation was made.
The Northern Lights YMCA has goals of $85,000 (Dickinson) and $128,500 (Delta) for the 2022 Annual Campaign. Both centers kicked off their Annual Campaigns in January. Within the local community, Annual Campaign donations help most toward day camps, After School Fun Club, youth swimming lessons as well as membership.
The national YMCA Day of Giving began in the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina in 2015 as a one-day, all hands on deck, hyper focused campaign effort that engaged staff at all levels, engaged volunteers, and acted as a final push for branches toward their Annual Campaign goals.
Since its inception, dozens of YMCA associations across the country have joined the initiative, resulting in more than $1.5 million raised.
